My interest in serving as a Trustee for the Compton Community College District is rooted in both my professional expertise and my commitment to civic engagement. As a former Assistant Deputy State Controller and former WASC Senior College and University Commissioner, I have extensive experience in public fiscal management, budgeting oversight, regulatory compliance, and ensuring accountability in the stewardship of public funds—all directly relevant to trustee fiduciary and governance duties. My career has required careful policy implementation, performance analysis, and transparent communication—core competencies essential for effective board governance.

 

Serving as a Trustee for Compton Community College District represents an opportunity to contribute my governance, finance, and higher education expertise to an institution that is central to opportunity and advancement in my community. As evidenced in my professional and personal track record, I am committed to ethical leadership, student-centered decision-making, and ensuring the District continues to thrive as a place of academic excellence, access, and community transformation.

I remain focused on deepening student support services to increase enrollment and support program completion and/or graduation.  During my tenure as Compton College Trustee, I have a demonstrated record of advocating and supporting services for homeless students, financial literacy and student engagement.
